Cinder, the Naked Chimp

Cinder was a chimpanzee that lived at the Saint Louis Zoo.  When she was 5 months old she started losing her hair and after a year, she was completely hairless.  Her hair loss was diagnosed as Alopecia universalis.  She was known as the “Hairless Chimp” and the “Naked Chimp”.   She passed away on February 15, 2009 at age 14.  It was later determined that she had an enlarged heart which could have contributed to her sudden death.
